Thoughts About a Visually Guided Grasp Reflex
Proceedings of the Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Perception for Robots. Pages 658-663.
Abstract
This paper describes a preliminary attempt to apply organizational principles taken from animal perc~ptual processes to the problem of providing a robot v1sual grasp reflex. The 9oal is to provide a cheap, rapid mechanism for directing a hand/arm to grasp one of several arbitrarily shaped objects in the visual scene. A program which implements a simple form of such a reflex is described.
