Challenge to Artificial Intelligence: Programming Problems to be Solved
Proceedings of the Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Pages 59-64.
Abstract
This paper is in the nature of a challenge to artificial intelligence experts . It suggests t hat the techniques of artificial intelligence should be applied to some realistic problems wh i ch exist in the programming and data processing f i elds. After a brief review of the little related existing work which has been done, the characteristics of programming problems which make them suitable for the application of art i fic i al intelligence techn i ques are given. Spec ifi c illustrations of problems are provided under the broad categories of data structure and organ i zation , program structure and organization, · improverr. ents and corrections of prog rams, and language.
