Network Truth Maintenance for Deduction and Modelling
Proceedings of the Sixth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. .
Abstract
Logical dependency based "Truth Maintenance" is applied to network representations of symoolic logic relations, resulting in reduced structural manipulation. Logical support is determined dynamically within existing structure by procedural specialists attached to the truth functional connectives which attempt to maintain consistency in the network. The use of context layers in addition to dependencies allows more accurate world-modelling than previous dependency-based modelling schemes. Focus of attention in deductive search and planning is accomplished by the propagation of control information through the network i n addition to normal truth values.
