A number of explanation approaches and tools for ASP have been developed, which often tackle specific explanatory settings and may not cover all scenarios that ASP users encounter.\r\nIn this survey, we provide, guided by an XAI perspective, an overview of types of ASP explanations in connection with user questions for explanation, and describe their coverage by current theory and tools. \r\nFurthermore, we pinpoint gaps in existing ASP explanations approaches and identify research directions for future work.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2026/870","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/870","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/0870.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/870.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/bibtex/870","volume":{"slug":"2026","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Fifth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2026","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/","year":2026,"location":"Bremen, Germany","dates":"15-21 August 2026","editors":"Diego Calvanese","isbn":"978-1-956792-09-6","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2026"},"section":"Survey Track","track":"Survey Track","number":870,"pages":{"first":7835,"last":7844},"keywords":["AI Ethics, Trust, Fairnes: Explainability and interpretability","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Non-monotonic reasoning","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Logic programming"],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
