We investigate the problem of measuring divergence between such induced orders. We introduce two formally equivalent distance metrics, each leveraging a distinct computational strategy based on different types of normalization. Preliminary empirical results support the soundness of the proposed methodologies and offer comparative insights into their computational properties. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to compute distance measures between qualitative preferences that jointly accounts for conditional dependencies and relative importance statements.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2026/446","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/446","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/0446.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/446.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/bibtex/446","volume":{"slug":"2026","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Fifth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2026","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2026/","year":2026,"location":"Bremen, Germany","dates":"15-21 August 2026","editors":"Diego Calvanese","isbn":"978-1-956792-09-6","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2026"},"section":"Knowledge Representation and Reasoning","track":"Main Track","number":446,"pages":{"first":4008,"last":4015},"keywords":["Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Preference modelling and preference-based reasoning","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Qualitative, geometric, spatial, and temporal reasoning"],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
