In general, when designing a decision-making process, it is desirable to minimise the gap. \r\n\r\nThe paper studies the class of mechanisms for which the gap is empty and proposes a concept of an elected dictatorship. It shows that, in a perfect information setting, the gap is empty if and only if the mechanism is an elected dictatorship. It also proves that in an imperfect information setting, the class of gap-free mechanisms is positioned strictly between two variations of the class of elected dictatorships.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2025/513","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/513","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/0513.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/513.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/bibtex/513","volume":{"slug":"2025","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2025","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/","year":2025,"location":"Montreal, Canada","dates":"16-22 August 2025","editors":"James Kwok","isbn":"978-1-956792-06-5","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2025"},"section":"Knowledge Representation and Reasoning","track":"Main Track","number":513,"pages":{"first":4606,"last":4614},"keywords":["Game Theory and Economic Paradigms: GTEP: Mechanism design","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: KRR: Reasoning about actions","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: KRR: Reasoning about knowledge and belief"],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
