Existing utility-based approaches guarantee agents satisfaction with negotiation outcomes, especially in multi-issue negotiations \r\nwhere concession mechanisms lead to win-win results. However, they lack explainability and do not consider agents’ beliefs. On the other hand, argument-based approaches provide reasons for accepting or rejecting offers but do not include utility modeling for offers or enable concession mechanisms in multi-issue settings. We propose a novel hybrid approach combining both types of approaches.\r\nThe utility-based component enables agents to make concessions on complex negotiation objects to achieve win-win outcomes, while the argumentation component ensures that accepted offers align with the agents' personal argumentation theories. These theories represent their beliefs, encoding various profiles, ethical considerations, social norms, or legal principles.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2025/10","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/10","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/0010.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/10.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/bibtex/10","volume":{"slug":"2025","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2025","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2025/","year":2025,"location":"Montreal, Canada","dates":"16-22 August 2025","editors":"James Kwok","isbn":"978-1-956792-06-5","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2025"},"section":"Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems","track":"Main Track","number":10,"pages":{"first":81,"last":89},"keywords":["Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems: MAS: Agreement technologies: Argumentation","Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems: MAS: Agreement technologies: Negotiation and contract-based systems","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: KRR: Argumentation"],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
