In this approach, rather than using a---necessarily imperfect---voting rule to map any given scenario where individual agents report their preferences into a collective decision, we identify for every concrete such scenario the most appealing set of normative principles (known as axioms in social choice theory) that would entail a unique decision and then implement that decision. We analyse some of the fundamental properties of this new approach, from both an algorithmic and a normative point of view.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2024/941","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/941","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/0941.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/941.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/bibtex/941","volume":{"slug":"2024","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2024","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/","year":2024,"location":"Jeju, Korea","dates":"3-9 August 2024","editors":"Kate Larson","isbn":"978-1-956792-04-1","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2024"},"section":"Sister Conferences Best Papers","track":"Sister Conferences Best Papers","number":941,"pages":{"first":8455,"last":8459},"keywords":["Game Theory and Economic Paradigms: GTEP: Computational social choice"],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Arrow et al., 2002] Kenneth J.
