It delves into the characteristics of DSCMs by analyzing the hypotheses, guarantees, and applications inherent to the underlying deep learning components and structural causal models, fostering a finer understanding of their capabilities and limitations in addressing different counterfactual queries. Furthermore, it highlights the challenges and open questions in the field of deep structural causal modeling. It sets the stages for researchers to identify future work directions and for practitioners to get an overview in order to find out the most appropriate methods for their needs.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2024/907","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/907","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/0907.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/907.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/bibtex/907","volume":{"slug":"2024","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2024","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2024/","year":2024,"location":"Jeju, Korea","dates":"3-9 August 2024","editors":"Kate Larson","isbn":"978-1-956792-04-1","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2024"},"section":"Survey Track","track":"Survey Track","number":907,"pages":{"first":8207,"last":8215},"keywords":["Machine Learning: ML: Causality","Machine Learning: ML: Generative models"],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Agrawal et al., 2024] Garima Agrawal, Amardeep Kaur, and Sowmya Myneni.
