The method addresses the limitations of fair clustering algorithms that necessitate the use of sensitive personal information during training or inference phases. Two novel solutions, the Gaussian mixture density function and Voronoi cell, are proposed to enhance the method's performance in terms of privacy, fairness, and utility compared to previous methods. The experimental results on both synthetic and real-world data confirm the compatibility of the proposed method with differential privacy, achieving a better fairness-utility trade-off than existing methods when privacy is not considered. Moreover, the proposed method requires significantly less computation time, being at least 3.7 times faster than the state-of-the-art.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2023/656","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/656","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/0656.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/656.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/bibtex/656","volume":{"slug":"2023","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2023","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/","year":2023,"location":"Macao, SAR","dates":"19-25 August 2023","editors":"Edith Elkind","isbn":"978-1-956792-03-4","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2023"},"section":"AI for Good","track":"AI for Good","number":656,"pages":{"first":5915,"last":5923},"keywords":["AI for Good: Multidisciplinary Topics and Applications"],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Agarwal et al., 2018] Alekh Agarwal, Alina Beygelzimer, Miroslav Dudík, John Langford, and Hanna Wallach.
