In some cases, the needed information can be provided by another agent, but information sharing might be costly due to limited communication bandwidth and other constraints. We address the problem of Helpful Information Sharing (HIS), which focuses on selecting minimal information to reveal to a partially informed agent in order to guarantee it can achieve its goal. We offer a novel compilation of HIS to a classical planning problem, which can be solved efficiently by any off-the-shelf planner. We provide guarantees of optimality for our approach and describe its extensions to maximize robustness and support settings in which the agent needs to decide which sensors to deploy in the environment. We demonstrate the power of our approaches on a set of standard benchmarks as well as on a novel benchmark.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2023/597","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/597","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/0597.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/597.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/bibtex/597","volume":{"slug":"2023","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2023","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/","year":2023,"location":"Macao, SAR","dates":"19-25 August 2023","editors":"Edith Elkind","isbn":"978-1-956792-03-4","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2023"},"section":"Planning and Scheduling","track":"Main Track","number":597,"pages":{"first":5377,"last":5385},"keywords":["Planning and Scheduling: PS: Planning with Incomplete Information","Planning and Scheduling: PS: Model-based reasoning"],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Albore et al., 2009] Alexandre Albore, Héctor Palacios, and Héctor Geffner.
