They enable us to represent some fundamental concepts in the theory of causality including causal necessity and possibility, interventionist conditionals and Lewisian conditionals. We provide complexity results for the satisfiability checking and model checking problem for these modal languages. Moreover, we study the relationship between our rule-based semantics and the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach to causal reasoning, as well as between our rule-based semantics for causal conditionals and the standard semantics for belief base change.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2023/366","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/366","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/0366.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/366.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/bibtex/366","volume":{"slug":"2023","title":"Proceedings of the Thirty-Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2023","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2023/","year":2023,"location":"Macao, SAR","dates":"19-25 August 2023","editors":"Edith Elkind","isbn":"978-1-956792-03-4","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2023"},"section":"Knowledge Representation and Reasoning","track":"Main Track","number":366,"pages":{"first":3286,"last":3295},"keywords":["Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: KRR: Knowledge representation languages","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: KRR: Causality","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: KRR: Reasoning about knowledge and belief"],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Alchourrón et al., 1985] C.
