Knuth’s Algorithm\r\nDLX is a state-of-the-art method for solving\r\nexact cover problems. Since DLX’s running\r\ntime depends on the cardinality of input S, it can be\r\nslow if S is large. Our proposal can improve DLX\r\nby exploiting a novel data structure, DanceDD,\r\nwhich extends the zero-suppressed binary decision\r\ndiagram (ZDD) by adding links to enable efficient\r\nmodifications of the data structure. With DanceDD,\r\nwe can represent S in a compressed way and perform\r\nsearch in linear time with the size of the structure\r\nby using link operations. The experimental results\r\nshow that our method is an order of magnitude\r\nfaster when the problem is highly compressed.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2021/275","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/275","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/0275.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/275.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/bibtex/275","volume":{"slug":"2021","title":"Proceedings of the Thirtieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2021","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/","year":2021,"location":"Montreal","dates":"19-27 August 2021","editors":"Prof. Zhi-Hua Zhou","isbn":"978-0-9992411-9-6","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2021"},"section":"Knowledge Representation and Reasoning","track":"Main Track","number":275,"pages":{"first":1996,"last":2004},"keywords":["Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Knowledge Representation Languages","Heuristic Search and Game Playing: Combinatorial Search and Optimisation"],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
