In signature-based \r\nABox abduction, the hypothesis is further required to use only names from a \r\ngiven set. This form of abduction has applications such as diagnosis, KB \r\nrepair, or explaning missing entailments. It is possible that hypotheses for \r\na given observation only exist if we admit the use of fresh individuals\r\nand/or complex concepts built from the given signature, something most \r\napproaches for ABox abduction so far do not allow or only allow \r\nwith restrictions. In this paper, we investigate the computational complexity \r\nof this form of abduction---allowing either fresh individuals, complex concepts, \r\nor both---for various description logics, and give size bounds on the hypotheses \r\nif they exist.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2021/266","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/266","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/0266.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/266.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/bibtex/266","volume":{"slug":"2021","title":"Proceedings of the Thirtieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2021","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2021/","year":2021,"location":"Montreal","dates":"19-27 August 2021","editors":"Prof. Zhi-Hua Zhou","isbn":"978-0-9992411-9-6","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2021"},"section":"Knowledge Representation and Reasoning","track":"Main Track","number":266,"pages":{"first":1929,"last":1935},"keywords":["Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Diagnosis and Abductive Reasoning","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Computational Complexity of Reasoning","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Description Logics and Ontologies"],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
