Although many such approaches have been considered in the literature, there are still various relevant DLs for which no small rewriting (of polynomial size) is known. We therefore develop small rewritings for the DL \\ALCHIQ -- featuring disjunction, number restrictions, and inverse roles -- to disjunctive Datalog. By admitting existential quantifiers in rule heads, we can improve this result to yield only rules of bounded size, a property that is common to all rewritings that were implemented in practice so far.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2020/246","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2020/246","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2020/0246.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2020/246.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2020/bibtex/246","volume":{"slug":"2020","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2020","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2020/","year":2020,"location":"Yokohama","dates":"January 2021 (postponed from 11-17 July 2020)","editors":"Christian Bessiere","isbn":"978-0-9992411-6-5","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2020"},"section":"Knowledge Representation and Reasoning","track":"Main track","number":246,"pages":{"first":1777,"last":1783},"keywords":["Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Description Logics and Ontologies","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Logics for Knowledge Representation","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Knowledge Representation Languages"],"videos":[{"label":"Video","url":"https://videos.ijcai20.org/26474/file_26474.m3u8","length_sec":320,"provider":"hls"}],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Ahmetaj et al., 2016] Shqiponja Ahmetaj, Magdalena Or- tiz, and Mantas Simkus.
