It is based on the trustor's past observations of the behaviour of the trustee and requires no knowledge of the inner-workings of the trustee. However, in situations that are new or unfamiliar, past observations are of little help in assessing trust. In such cases, knowledge about the trustee can help. A particular type of knowledge is that of values - things that are important to the trustor and the trustee. In this paper, based on the premise that the more values two agents share, the more they should trust one another, we propose a simple approach to trust assessment between agents based on values, taking into account if agents trust cautiously or boldly, and if they depend on others in carrying out a task.","doi":"10.24963/ijcai.2019/28","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2019/28","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2019/0028.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2019/28.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2019/bibtex/28","volume":{"slug":"2019","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2019","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2019/","year":2019,"location":"Macao","dates":"10-16 August 2019","editors":"Sarit Kraus","isbn":"978-0-9992411-4-1","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization","doi_prefix":"10.24963/ijcai.2019"},"section":"Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems","track":"Main track","number":28,"pages":{"first":194,"last":200},"keywords":["Humans and AI: Ethical Issues in AI","Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems: Trust and Reputation","Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems: Agent Theories and Models","Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: Reasoning about Knowlege and Belief"],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Cranefield et al., 2017] Stephen Cranefield, Michael Winikoff, Virginia Dignum, and Frank Dignum.
