Significant understanding of programs with aggregates has been gained in the last decade. However, there is still a substantial difficulty in understanding the semantics due to the nonmonotonic behavior of aggregates, which is demonstrated by several distinct semantics for aggregates in the existing work. In this paper, we aim to understand these distinct semantics in a more uniform way. Particularly, by satisfiability, rationality and consistency principles, we are able to give a uniform and simple characterizations of the three major distinct types of answer set semantics.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/193","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/0193.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/193.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/bibtex/193","volume":{"slug":"2016","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Fifth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2016","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/","year":2016,"location":"New York, NY, USA","dates":"9–15 July 2016","editors":"Subbarao Kambhampati","isbn":"978-1-57735-770-4; 978-1-57735-771-1","publisher":"AAAI Press / International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":193,"pages":{"first":1338,"last":1343},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
