Here, potential conflicts among the agent's goals and norms makes decision-making challenging. We therefore seek to answer the following questions: (i) how should an agent act in a normative environment? and (ii) how can the agent explain why it acted in a certain way? We propose a solution in which a normative planning problem serves as the basis for a practical reasoning approach based on argumentation. The properties of the best plan(s) w.r.t. goal achievement and norm compliance are mapped to arguments that are used to explain why a plan is justified, using a dialogue game.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/180","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/0180.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/180.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/bibtex/180","volume":{"slug":"2016","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Fifth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2016","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2016/","year":2016,"location":"New York, NY, USA","dates":"9–15 July 2016","editors":"Subbarao Kambhampati","isbn":"978-1-57735-770-4; 978-1-57735-771-1","publisher":"AAAI Press / International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":180,"pages":{"first":1244,"last":1249},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
