The advice given is a form of relating recommendations or guidance from an automated agent to its human user. Providing the right advice at the right time is extremely complex, and requires a good adaptation to human desires and changing environments. We propose a novel methodology for designing automated advising agents and evaluate it in three real world environments. Our intelligent advising agents were evaluated through extensive field trials, with hundreds of human subjects. A significant increase in human performance as well as a high level of user satisfaction was recorded when they were equipped with our agents.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/643","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/0643.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/643.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/bibtex/643","volume":{"slug":"2015","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2015","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/","year":2015,"location":"Buenos Aires, Argentina","dates":"25–31 July 2015","editors":"Qiang Yang and Michael Wooldridge","isbn":"978-1-57735-738-4","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Doctoral Consortium","track":"Doctoral Consortium","number":643,"pages":{"first":4391,"last":4391},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
