Weshow how a learner robot can learn to produce and interpret spatial utterances in guided-learning interactions with a tutor robot (equipped with a system for producing English spatial phrases). The tutor guides the learning process by simplifying the challenges and complexity of utterances, givesfeedback, and gradually increases the complexity of the language to be learnt. Our experiments show promising results towards long-term, incremental acquisition of natural language in a process of co-development of syntax and semantics.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/271","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/0271.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/271.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/bibtex/271","volume":{"slug":"2015","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2015","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2015/","year":2015,"location":"Buenos Aires, Argentina","dates":"25–31 July 2015","editors":"Qiang Yang and Michael Wooldridge","isbn":"978-1-57735-738-4","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Robotics and Vision","track":"Main Track","number":271,"pages":{"first":1909,"last":1914},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
