A norm comes into effect when its condition becomes true, and imposes either an obligation or a prohibition on an agent which remains in force until a state satisfying a deadline condition is reached. If the norm is violated, a sanction is imposed on the agent. We define a notion of a normative update of a multi-agent system by a set of conditional norms, and study the problem of checking whether the agent(s) can bring about a state satisfying a property without incurring a specified number of sanctions.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/15","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/0015.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/15.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/bibtex/15","volume":{"slug":"2013","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2013","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/","year":2013,"location":"Beijing, China","dates":"3–9 August 2013","editors":"Francesca Rossi","isbn":"978-1-57735-633-2","publisher":"AAAI Press / International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":15,"pages":{"first":20,"last":25},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
