In this paper, we study the possibilities of answering queries over non-Horn ontologies using datalog rewritings. We prove that this is impossible in general even for very simple ontology languages, and even if PTIME = NP. Furthermore, we present a resolution-based procedure for SHI ontologies that, in case it terminates, produces a datalog rewriting of the ontology. We also show that our procedure necessarily terminates on DL-LiteBoolH,+ ontologies — an extension of OWL 2 QL with transitive roles and Boolean connectives.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/129","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/0129.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/129.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/bibtex/129","volume":{"slug":"2013","title":"Proceedings of the Twenty-Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2013","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2013/","year":2013,"location":"Beijing, China","dates":"3–9 August 2013","editors":"Francesca Rossi","isbn":"978-1-57735-633-2","publisher":"AAAI Press / International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":129,"pages":{"first":832,"last":837},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
