In that framework, agents adopt a goal when requested to do so (by some agent), and they remain committed to the goal unless the request is cancelled by that agent. A common assumption in the agent theory literature is that achievement goals that are believed to be impossible to achieve should be dropped. In this paper, we incorporate this assumption into Shapiro et al.'s framework, however we go a step further. If an agent believes a goal is impossible to achieve, it is dropped. However, if the agent later believes that it was mistaken about the impossibility of achieving the goal, the agent might readopt the goal. In addition, we consider an agent's goals as a whole when making them compatible with their beliefs, rather than considering them individually.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/422","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/0422.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/422.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/bibtex/422","volume":{"slug":"2007","title":"Proceedings of the Twentieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2007","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/","year":2007,"location":"Hyderabad, India","dates":"","editors":"Ramon López de Mántaras","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":422,"pages":{"first":2625,"last":2629},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
