The method utilizes the empirical property that many named entities occur in one name class only. Using only unlabeled text as the additional resource, our improved NER system achieves an F1 score of 87.13%, an improvement of 1.17% in F1 score and a 8.3% error reduction on the CoNLL 2003 English NER official test set. This accuracy places our NER system among the top 3 systems in the CoNLL 2003 English shared task.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/285","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/0285.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/285.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/bibtex/285","volume":{"slug":"2007","title":"Proceedings of the Twentieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2007","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/","year":2007,"location":"Hyderabad, India","dates":"","editors":"Ramon López de Mántaras","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":285,"pages":{"first":1763,"last":1767},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
