It aims to segment texts into thematic homogeneous parts. Several existing methods have been used for this purpose, based on a sequential creation of boundaries. Here, we propose to consider boundaries simultaneously thanks to a genetic algorithm. SegGen uses two criteria: maximization of the internal cohesion of the formed segments and minimization of the similarity of the adjacent segments. First experimental results are promising and SegGen appears to be very competitive compared with existing methods.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/266","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/0266.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/266.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/bibtex/266","volume":{"slug":"2007","title":"Proceedings of the Twentieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2007","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/","year":2007,"location":"Hyderabad, India","dates":"","editors":"Ramon López de Mántaras","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":266,"pages":{"first":1647,"last":1651},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"[Baeza-Yates and Ribeiro-Neto, 1999] R.
