Creating these resources manually is tedious, time consuming, and prone to error. We present a new algorithm for using the web to determine the correct concept in an existing ontology to lexicalize previously unknown words, such as might be discovered while processing texts. A detailed empirical comparison of our algorithm with two existing algorithms (Cilibrasi & Vitanyi 2004, Maedche et al. 2002) is described, leading to insights into the sources of the algorithms' strengths and weaknesses.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/261","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/0261.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/261.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/bibtex/261","volume":{"slug":"2007","title":"Proceedings of the Twentieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2007","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/","year":2007,"location":"Hyderabad, India","dates":"","editors":"Ramon López de Mántaras","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":261,"pages":{"first":1618,"last":1622},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
