A key issue is the efficient aggregation of data in the system; several approaches have been proposed, but they are plagued by major shortcomings. We put forward a novel, decentralized data management scheme grounded in gossip-based algorithms. Rumor mongering is known to possess algorithmic advantages, and indeed, our framework inherits many of their salient features: scalability, robustness, globality, and simplicity. We also demonstrate that our scheme motivates agents to maintain a sparkling clean reputation, and is inherently impervious to certain kinds of attacks.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/237","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/0237.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/237.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/bibtex/237","volume":{"slug":"2007","title":"Proceedings of the Twentieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2007","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/","year":2007,"location":"Hyderabad, India","dates":"","editors":"Ramon López de Mántaras","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":237,"pages":{"first":1470,"last":1474},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
