At a high level, the design of many successful autonomous trading agents can be summarized as follows: (i)~price prediction: build a model of market prices; and (ii)~optimization: solve for an approximately optimal set of bids, given this model. To predict, we simulate simultaneous ascending auctions. To optimize, we apply the sample average approximation method. Both of these procedures might naturally be abbreviated SAA; hence the title of this paper. Our agent dominated the preliminary and seeding rounds of TAC Travel in 2006, and emerged as champion in the finals in a photo finish.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/222","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/0222.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/222.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/bibtex/222","volume":{"slug":"2007","title":"Proceedings of the Twentieth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2007","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2007/","year":2007,"location":"Hyderabad, India","dates":"","editors":"Ramon López de Mántaras","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":222,"pages":{"first":1378,"last":1382},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
