We identify the kinds of communicative signals that appear in information graphics, describe how we utilize them in a Bayesian network that hypothesizes the graphic’s intended message, and discuss the performance of our implemented system. This work is part of a larger project aimed at making information graphics accessible to individuals with sight impairments.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/46","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/0046.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/46.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/bibtex/46","volume":{"slug":"2005","title":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2005","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/","year":2005,"location":"Edinburgh, Scotland, UK","dates":"","editors":"","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":46,"pages":{"first":1042,"last":1046},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
