In this paper,we enhance the modeling power of PRISM by allowing general PRISM programs to fail in the generation process of observable events. Introducing failure extends the class of definable distributions but needs a generalization of the semantics of PRISM programs. We propose a three valued probabilistic semantics and show how failure enables us to pursue constraint-based modeling of complex statistical phenomena.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/37","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/0037.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/37.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/bibtex/37","volume":{"slug":"2005","title":"Proceedings of the Nineteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2005","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2005/","year":2005,"location":"Edinburgh, Scotland, UK","dates":"","editors":"","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":37,"pages":{"first":847,"last":851},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
