Focusing on incremental query elicitation in recommender systems, we examine the limitations of naive strategies such as terminating the dialogue when the similarity of any case reaches a predefined threshold. We also identify necessary and sufficient conditions for recommendation dialogues to be terminated without loss of solution quality. Finally, we evaluate a number of attribute-selection strategies in terms of dialogue efficiency given the requirement that there must be no loss of solution quality.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/17","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/0017.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/17.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/bibtex/17","volume":{"slug":"2003","title":"Proceedings of the Eighteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2003","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/","year":2003,"location":"Acapulco, Mexico","dates":"","editors":"Georg Gottlob","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":17,"pages":{"first":121,"last":125},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
