Aimed at giving a better insight of whether or not the exploitation of abstract spaces can be used f~r solving complex planning problems, compansons have been made between instances of the hierarchical planner and their non hierarchical counterparts. To improve the significance of the results, three different planners have been selected and used while performing experiments. To facilitate the setting of experimental environments, a novel semi-automatic technique, used to generate abstraction hierarchies starting from ground-level domain descriptions, is also described.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/134","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/0134.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/134.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/bibtex/134","volume":{"slug":"2003","title":"Proceedings of the Eighteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2003","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/","year":2003,"location":"Acapulco, Mexico","dates":"","editors":"Georg Gottlob","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":134,"pages":{"first":936,"last":940},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
