We show how this analysis can also be used to specify rules of interaction for systems of electronic agents communicating with an artificial language. We conclude that using constitutive rules to define the semantics of an agent communication language not only distinguishes agent communication from method invocation, but also offers significant computational advantages over using intentional states.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/101","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/0101.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/101.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/bibtex/101","volume":{"slug":"2003","title":"Proceedings of the Eighteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2003","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2003/","year":2003,"location":"Acapulco, Mexico","dates":"","editors":"Georg Gottlob","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":101,"pages":{"first":691,"last":697},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
