Due to the level of representation detail provided, knowledge about influences that hold only in specific contexts cannot be expressed. The results computed from a qualitative network, as a consequence, can be quite weak and uninformative. We extend the basic formalism of qualitative probabilistic networks by providing for the inclusion of context-specific information about influences and show that exploiting this information upon inference has the ability to forestall unnecessarily weak results.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/92","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/0092.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/92.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/bibtex/92","volume":{"slug":"2001","title":"Proceedings of the Seventeenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2001","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/","year":2001,"location":"Seattle, Washington, USA","dates":"","editors":"","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":92,"pages":{"first":667,"last":671},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
