In this paper we propose a distributed case-based approach for the main problem of a mediator, i.e. rewriting queries according to mediator’s schema. According to this approach we use a case memory as mediator’s schema. Therefore, such a schema is not static (as in other systems) but is dynamically updated through the cooperation with information sources and other mediators, strongly influenced by the queries submitted by a consumer. From the analysis of different cooperation strategies arises that it is more efficient and effective for a mediator to directly cooperate with information sources, when the sources are few. Otherwise, it is more efficient to cooperate with other mediators.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/136","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/0136.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/136.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/bibtex/136","volume":{"slug":"2001","title":"Proceedings of the Seventeenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 2001","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/2001/","year":2001,"location":"Seattle, Washington, USA","dates":"","editors":"","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":null,"track":"","number":136,"pages":{"first":1005,"last":1009},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
