To reduce the amount of information coming from telecommunications equipment, one needs to preprocess the alarm stream and we propose here a way to acquire some knowledge to do that . The key idea is that only the frequent alarm sets are relevant for reducing the information stream: we aggregate frequent relevant information and suppress frequent noisy information. We propose algorithms for analysing alarm logs: first stage is to discover frequently occurring temporally-constrained alarm sets (called chronicles) and second stage is to filter them according to their interdependency level. We also show experimental results with an actual telecommunications ATM network. Areas: knowledge acquisition, discovery, temporal reasoning, applications, monitoring.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/89","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/0089.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/89.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/bibtex/89","volume":{"slug":"1999","title":"Proceedings of the Sixteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1999","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/","year":1999,"location":"Stockholm, Sweden","dates":"","editors":"Thomas Dean","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge-based Applications","track":"Knowledge-based Applications","number":89,"pages":{"first":620,"last":625},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
