The application operates on the world wide web and uses the XML standard as a communications protocol between client and server side Java applets. The paper describes the distributed architecture of the application, the two case retrieval techniques used, its implementation, trial, roll-out and subsequent improvements to its architecture and retrieval techniques using introspective reasoning to improve retrieval efficiency. The benefits it has provided to the company are detailed.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/86","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/0086.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/86.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/bibtex/86","volume":{"slug":"1999","title":"Proceedings of the Sixteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1999","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/","year":1999,"location":"Stockholm, Sweden","dates":"","editors":"Thomas Dean","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge-based Applications","track":"Knowledge-based Applications","number":86,"pages":{"first":600,"last":604},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
