MIMIC [Dvorak and Kuipers, 1991] uses qualitative and semiquantitative models to monitor dynamic systems even with incomplete knowledge. Recent advances have improved the quality of semi-quantitative behavior predictions, used observations to refine static envelopes around monotonic functions, and provided a semiquantitative system identification method. Using these, we reformulate and extend MIMIC to handle discontinuous changes between models. Each hypothesis being monitored is embodied as a tracker, which uses the observation stream to refine its behavioral predictions, its underlying model, and the time uncertainty of any discontinuous transitions.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/154","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/0154.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/154.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/bibtex/154","volume":{"slug":"1999","title":"Proceedings of the Sixteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1999","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/","year":1999,"location":"Stockholm, Sweden","dates":"","editors":"Thomas Dean","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Qualitative Reasoning and Diagnosis","track":"Qualitative Reasoning and Diagnosis","number":154,"pages":{"first":1080,"last":1085},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
