Concrete domains allow the integration of description logic reasoning with reasoning about concrete objects such as numbers, time intervals, or spatial regions. The importance of this combined approach, especially for building real-world applications, is widely accepted. However, the complexity of reasoning with concrete domains has never been formally analyzed and efficient algorithms have not been developed. This paper closes the gap by providing a tight bound for the complexity of reasoning with concrete domains and presenting optimal algorithms.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/14","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/0014.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/14.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/bibtex/14","volume":{"slug":"1999","title":"Proceedings of the Sixteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1999","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1999/","year":1999,"location":"Stockholm, Sweden","dates":"","editors":"Thomas Dean","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Automated Reasoning","track":"Automated Reasoning","number":14,"pages":{"first":90,"last":94},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
