As a case study, in this paper we provide a situation calculus semantics for the Prolog cut operator, the central search control operator in Prolog. We show that our semantics is well-behaved when the programs are properly stratified. We also show that according to this semantics, the conventional implementation of the negationas-failure operator using cut is provably correct with respect to the stable model semantics.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1997/203","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1997/0203.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1997/203.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1997/bibtex/203","volume":{"slug":"1997","title":"Proceedings of the Fifteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1997","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1997/","year":1997,"location":"Nagoya, Japan","dates":"","editors":"Martha E.
