We first introduce a new form of abduction that can account for observations in nonmonotonic situation. Then we provide a framework of autoepistemic update, which describes nonmonotonic theory change through the extended abductive framework. The proposed update semantics is fairly general and provides a unified framework for various update semantics such as first-order update, view update of databases, and contradiction removal of nonmonotonic theories.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/27","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/0027.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/27.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/bibtex/27","volume":{"slug":"1995","title":"Proceedings of the Fourteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1995","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/","year":1995,"location":"Montréal, Québec, Canada","dates":"","editors":"Chris S.
