Scaling up along these dimensions means acquiring large knowledge resources. It also means behaving reasonably when definitive knowledge is not yet available. This paper describes how we can fill various KBMT knowledge gaps, often using robust statistical techniques. We describe quantitative and qualitative results from JAPANGLOSS, a broad-coverage JapaneseEnglish MT system.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/179","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/0179.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/179.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/bibtex/179","volume":{"slug":"1995","title":"Proceedings of the Fourteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1995","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1995/","year":1995,"location":"Montréal, Québec, Canada","dates":"","editors":"Chris S.
