Counterparts in possibility theory of these two operations are presented, including the case of conditioning upon an uncertain observation. Possibilistic conditioning satisfies all the postulates for belief revision, and possibilistic imaging all the updating postulates. Lastly, a third operation called \"focusing\" is naturally introduced in the setting of belief and plausibility functions.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/87","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/0087.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/87.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/bibtex/87","volume":{"slug":"1993","title":"Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1993","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/","year":1993,"location":"Chambéry, France","dates":"","editors":"Ruzena Bajcsy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":87,"pages":{"first":620,"last":624},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
