Various modelling methodologies are set out , and it is shown that these methodologies cannot supply psychological explanations of expertise on the basis of ordinary realist assumptions about the mind, since the knowledge level primitives cannot supply the right sort of links between tasks and AI methods. In contrast , an anti-realist , interpretative view of mind is set out, and it is shown how AI modelling methodologies could, in that context , be of psychological value. Finally, a short example gives some concrete expression to these ideas.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/27","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/0027.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/27.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/bibtex/27","volume":{"slug":"1993","title":"Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1993","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/","year":1993,"location":"Chambéry, France","dates":"","editors":"Ruzena Bajcsy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Cognitive Modeling","track":"Cognitive Modeling","number":27,"pages":{"first":188,"last":192},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
