Our approach makes use of translation examples in two distinct languages that have quite different syntactic structures and word meanings (such as English and Japanese) . In many cases , both syntactic and semantic ambiguities are resolved by comparing analyzed results of sent ences in both languages , and it becomes possible to extract lexical knowledge with much less human interaction compared with monolingual approaches. The interaction is limited to the crucial points for discriminating multiple senses of verbal case frames that the systeni detects automatically. Th e system reduces human interaction by virtue of English information , whi ch works as th e heuristics for the discrimination.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/159","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/0159.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/159.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/bibtex/159","volume":{"slug":"1993","title":"Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1993","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1993/","year":1993,"location":"Chambéry, France","dates":"","editors":"Ruzena Bajcsy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Natural Language","track":"Natural Language","number":159,"pages":{"first":1150,"last":1156},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
