We give here the basic definitions of a new semantics, which works by interpreting one logic into a family of logics via translations, which we call semantics of translations. As a particular application we show that a simple logic supporting contradictions can be constructed translating classical logic into three-valued logics. This translation semantics offers a new interpretation to certain paraconsistent logics which allows the application of them to automated reasoning and knowledge representation.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/80","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/0080.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/80.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/bibtex/80","volume":{"slug":"1991","title":"Proceedings of the Twelfth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1991","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/","year":1991,"location":"Sydney, New South Wales, Australia","dates":"24-30 August 1991","editors":"John Mylopoulos and Ray Reiter","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":80,"pages":{"first":532,"last":536},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
