The usual propositional formulas are embedded in our logic as a special type of belief formulas. One can obtain a non-monotonic logic of beliefs by applying, say, circumscription to the basic belieflogic developed here which is monotonic in nature. One can also apply the technique repeatedly to construct a hierarchy of belief-logics BLko k ~ 1, where BLk ::::> BLk_ 1 and BLk can handle formulas involving up to level k nested applications of the belief operator B.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/73","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/0073.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/73.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/bibtex/73","volume":{"slug":"1991","title":"Proceedings of the Twelfth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1991","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/","year":1991,"location":"Sydney, New South Wales, Australia","dates":"24-30 August 1991","editors":"John Mylopoulos and Ray Reiter","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":73,"pages":{"first":486,"last":490},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
