The method uses circular convolution to associate items, which are represented by vectors . Arbitrary variable bindings, short sequences of various lengths, frames, and reduced representations can be compressed into a fixed width vector . These representations are items in their own right, and can be used in constructing compositional structures . The noisy reconstructions given by convolution memories can be cleaned up by using a separate associative memory that has good reconstructive properties.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/5","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/0005.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/5.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/bibtex/5","volume":{"slug":"1991","title":"Proceedings of the Twelfth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1991","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/","year":1991,"location":"Sydney, New South Wales, Australia","dates":"24-30 August 1991","editors":"John Mylopoulos and Ray Reiter","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Architectures & Languages","track":"Architectures & Languages","number":5,"pages":{"first":30,"last":34},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
