A learning companion system is an intelligent tutoring system of a new breed. Apart from the teacher, a learning companion models after an additional agent, called the learning companion. The learning companion acts as a companion for the human student in learning. Thus the companion performs the learning task at about the same level as the student; and both the student and the companion exchange ideas while being presented the same material by the computer teacher. The computer companion might make mistakes, just like a human student.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/161","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/0161.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/161.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/bibtex/161","volume":{"slug":"1991","title":"Proceedings of the Twelfth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1991","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/","year":1991,"location":"Sydney, New South Wales, Australia","dates":"24-30 August 1991","editors":"John Mylopoulos and Ray Reiter","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Principles of AI Applications","track":"Principles of AI Applications","number":161,"pages":{"first":1094,"last":1098},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
