Within this framework, and using various mathematical and algorithmic approximations, the AutoClass system searches for the most probable classifications, automatically choosing the number of classes and complexity of class descriptions. Simpler versions of AutoClass have been applied to many large real data sets, have discovered new independently-verified phenomena, and have been released as a robust software package. Recent extensions allow attributes to be selectively correlated within particular classes, and allow classes to inherit, or share, model parameters though a class hierarchy.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/101","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/0101.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/101.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/bibtex/101","volume":{"slug":"1991","title":"Proceedings of the Twelfth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1991","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/","year":1991,"location":"Sydney, New South Wales, Australia","dates":"24-30 August 1991","editors":"John Mylopoulos and Ray Reiter","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Learning Be Knowledge Acquisition","track":"Learning Be Knowledge Acquisition","number":101,"pages":{"first":692,"last":697},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
